How to do Girl's Night Without Wrecking Your Diet

Written By admin • 2 min read

You’ve waited all month for it—An evening with nothing but your closest girlfriends to catch up, gossip, laugh, reminisce and indulge in the surplus of food and wine usually associated with the much anticipated occasion! The problem? You’ve started a regime of eating healthy, exercising  and finally starting to feel great, look great, and see your sweat equity come to fruition. The truth is, a simple night out with the girls can lead to endless orders of drinks, appetizers and mindless eating, leaving you feeling bloated, sluggish and swollen all over the next day. Navigating girls night when you have worked so hard to start healthy eating habits can be tricky business but if you use some of these tips the next time you head out for a night on the town, your body will definitely be thanking you in the morning!

Be Mindful

Take your time, taste your food, and listen to your body when you start to feel full. A lot of us tend to eat fast and get caught up in between conversation but just be mindful of your body. Try taking smaller bites, chewing slower, or sipping some water between bites. When you’re with your girlfriends there is no rush— you’ll be together all night!

Surround Yourself With the Right People

There’s no better way to stay motivated than by having supportive friends by your side! Don’t be afraid to open up about your nutrition goals beforehand and let everyone know how committed you are. Maybe you and a friend can then split a meal together and keep one another accountable. Hey, you may even inspire someone in the group to give your healthy routine as well! Having positive and supportive girlfriends make all the difference in your journey to optimal health and I’m guessing if they are special enough to make it to “girl’s night” they are those supportive, always-there-for-you friends.

 Pick a Healthy Activity

The best part about girls night is that you can make it whatever you want! It’s not just limited to meeting friends for drinks and dinner. Maybe make it an active night with the girls, hitting up a local yoga class or taking a sunset hike while catching up on this weeks endeavors. If the entire group is set on diving into some local cuisine, pick a place that’s known for a cleaner, healthier menu!

 Just Say No to Dessert

We know how tempting it can be to browse that dessert menu but just say no! If you know you’ll be craving something sweet by the end of the night, come with a plan! Stash a little square of dark chocolate in your purse to nibble on after dinner. The inevitable sweet tooth is my biggest temptation and all I really need is just a nosh of something sweet. For me, the dark chocolate works every time!
