Michael R. Mantell earned his Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania and his M.S. at Hahnemann Medical College, where he wrote his thesis on the psychological aspects of obesity. He has served as the Senior Fitness Consultant for Behavioral Sciences for the American Council on Exercise. Dr. Mantell is the Chief Behavior Science consultant to PFC Camp at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the International Council on Active Aging, a best-selling author, an international behavior science fitness presenter and in-demand Keynote speaker, an Advisor to numerous fitness-health organizations, and is featured in many media broadcasts and fitness publications. Dr. Mantell is a nationally sought after behavioral science coach for business leaders, elite amateur and professional athletes, individuals and families. He is listed in the greatist.com 2013 “The 100 Most Influential People in Health and Fitness.”

Dr. Lee Rice - Chief Wellness Officer

Dr. Lee Rice is an internationally known authority in sports medicine, wellness and preventative medicine. In 1980 he founded the San Diego Sports Medicine and Family Health Center, which at the time was a revolutionary concept focusing on cutting-edge prevention and high level performance. In 2002, Dr. Rice founded the Lifewellness Institute, specializing in health risk evaluation, wellness and health promotion. Two innovative programs, Project L.I.F.E. (Lifestyle Interventions for Executives) and Chief Wellness Officer (CWO) helped the Lifewellness Institute win the national 2004 AstraZeneca Healthy Heart Award in recognition of initiating a “dramatic improvement in the health care environment focusing on the global fight against coronary heart disease”.

Lenita Anthony - M.A.

Lenita has Master’s degree in Applied Exercise Physiology from San Diego State University and is an A.C.S.M. Certified Exercise Specialist. She has over 25 years experience in the health and fitness industry with extensive experience in clinical exercise physiology, assessments, wellness coaching, group exercise instruction, personal training, and education. She is a recognized industry educator, presenter, and author and has been a longtime presenter at industry conferences such as World IDEA, IDEA Personal Trainer, IHRSA, ACSM Health and Fitness Summit, etc. She is currently a Clinical Exercise Physiologist for the Exercise and Physical Activity Resource Center (EPARC) at University of California, San Diego.

Jessica Janc - Director of Nutrition

Jessica Janc has been a part of the Fitness Industry for 20 years. She attended the University of Utah where she studied Exercise Sports Science with an emphasis on Nutrition. She has been an ACE certified Aerobic Instructor and Personal trainer for nineteen years. She studied under the Stott Pilates Method, is Bosu Certified, Madd Dogg Spin certified and teaches many other fitness classes at Purefitness Sports Center in Carlsbad. Jessica is Ace Certified in Lifestyle and Weight Management and is a Sports Nutritionist certified through the National Association of Sports Nutrition (NASN).

With extraordinary experience and expertise in naturopathy and holistic nutrition, Chef Kieffer has redefined the kitchen as a place of true healing. Under the culinary tutelage of his Grandmother Falzarrano, his wonderful mother and father, and his prestigious degree from the renowned Culinary Institute of America (CIA), Kieffer has taken his extensive knowledge of health and nutrition from the tables of New York’s most esteemed restaurants, to the world headquarters of Google and Microsoft, and even into the intimate dining room of Forbes mega moguls.  

Prior to PFC, Chef Jason served as the Executive Chef and Wellness Coach at Intermountain Healthcare’s Park City Medical Center, Executive Chef at the preeminent Bellevue Club Hotel—the AAA Four Diamond club and hotel consistently ranked as the #1 hotel in Seattle and #1 resort in the Pacific Northwest, and revolutionized the culinary culture for Microsoft’s international campuses. Chef Jason’s knowledge combined with an insatiable curiosity for the healing powers of food bring PFC Fitness Camp clients a wealth of invaluable information and intriguing ingredients that truly change lives.

Wendy Sallin - Director of Fitness

Wendy has a B.A. in Sociology from U.C. Santa Barbara and is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, NASN Licensed Sports Nutritionist and RRCA Certified Running Coach. She is also a certified Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) practitioner, which is a muscular therapy that is offered to all PFC clients. She has worked in the fitness industry since 2003. Wendy has advanced education in various specialties such as neuromuscular therapy, corrective exercise and cardiovascular performance testing. She works with clients of all fitness and wellness levels, from individuals recovering from strokes and heart attacks to competitive athletes seeking higher levels of sports performance. Personally, Wendy has been actively involved in sports and fitness for almost four decades, starting as a gymnast. In college, she found her new passion of running and has been running ever since! She is a proud mom of an 15 year-old girl, who is a high school track and cross country runner. Wendy is inspired daily by the determination and tenacity of PFC Fitness Camp’s clients!

Todd Bassler - Personal Trainer

Todd was born and raised in Vermont, where he grew up with a very active and outdoor lifestyle. He has an extensive sports background and had a career playing Divison I College Ice Hockey. Prior to joining Premier Fitness, Todd was the Fitness Manager of six 24-Hour Fitness locations, managing 30+ personal trainers. Todd is N.A.S.M (National Academy of Sports Medicine) certified and holds the Golf Fitness Specialist certification as well. Additionally, Todd has a B.S. in Psychology and a Minor in Athletic Coaching. Todd lives in Carlsbad with his wife and 2 children.

Renee has been a fitness enthusiast all her life, first as a competitive athlete in school, which eventually led her career as a certified fitness trainer for 20 years. Renee holds certifications in Personal Training, Cycling, Bosu Training, Gravity GTS training and Peak Pilates. She is a very energized and spirited instructor who believes the key to fitness is to have fun with what you do. PFC campers leave Renee’s workouts with nothing but a lot of sweat and smiles!

Kandice Chavez - Personal Trainer
After spending some of her formative years playing competitive sports in beautiful San Diego, Kandice moved to Hawaii where she fell in love with surfing. Although living in paradise was desirable, her ambition and yearning for education led her back to San Diego where she received a B.S. in Kinesiology, with an emphasis in Exercise Science, from California State University San Marcos, in 2011. Despite her active lifestyle, heading off to passively life weights in a gym was not entirely agreeable, however, during her senior year at CSUSM she was introduced to kettlebell training from Master trainer Max Shank. She never understood how much fun she could have while achieving such astonishing results, and because of her innate desire to help those around her—she found her passion. Since then she has become certified in Hardstyle Kettlebells (HKC), Precision Nutrition (PN), First Aid, CPR, and AED, and is dedicated to helping you feel better everyday.

LaMere " LC" Cornelius is a highly qualified trainer with over twelve years experience helping individuals from various backgrounds achieve their health and fitness goals. He is often called upon for his expertise in weight loss management, general fitness, functional strength training, corrective exercise, sports performance training, nutrition and body sculpting. LC holds a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from the University of Central Oklahoma and is certified by the most highly accredited organizations in the fitness industry including the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) and the American Red Cross. (CPR/AED). LC provides the highest quality training and help clients achieve their goals. His personalized programs focus on total wellness and improve physical appearance, overall health and quality of life.

A San Diego native, Dara has participated in competitive sports for a large part of her life. She holds a BS in Human Development and many fitness, wellness, and nutrition certifications. Since 2001, Dara has been working in the fitness industry as a personal trainer, group exercise instructor, Fitness Director, and Wellness Coordinator. She has worked with children through older adults, including those with chronic diseases and joint replacements. Prior to working in fitness, Dara was a registered dental assistant for over 10 years. Assisting others to achieve their optimal life is one of her greatest passions and she is honored to be a part of the PFC team who share the same passion.
Kaleigh_Douglas
Kaleigh was born and raised in Southern California and has always had a passion for health & fitness. Before joining the PFC team, Kaleigh spearheaded the body transformation challenge for Fitness Mega brand, BODE, Chris Powell’s national fitness and weight loss program. From then on she knew she wanted to help other people pursue their health goals, which lead her to PFC Fitness Camp. Now, on a daily basis, Kaleigh plays a major role in helping clients from around the globe reach remarkable, life transformations.
Joni Parmer - Marketing Director
Outdoor enthusiast and experienced marketer, Joni pairs over 7 years of industry know-how with her passion for health and fitness as the Marketing Director for PFC Fitness Camp. From brand messaging to campaign management, Joni has brought food, fashion and lifestyle brands to life through a variety of offline and online channels including: websites, email marketing, social media, packaging, print, public relations and advertising. Besides calling La Costa Resort & Spa home, and her colleagues, practically family, Joni loves the opportunity to make meaningful connections daily with PFC guests from all over the world. Joni received her bachelors from Cal Poly (SLO) in Events & Marketing with a minor in Graphic Communication.
Mary Chilcote - Director of Operations

Mary Chilcote, Client Care Specialist

Mary is a SoCal native, born and raised in Huntington Beach. She studied Speech Communication at Cal State, Fullerton. Prior to joining PFC Fitness, Mary worked in Pharmaceutical Wholesaling, taught high school and was the Varsity Cheer Competition Coach. Most recently Mary served as the Group Reservation Coordinator for Omni La Costa Resort & Spa. Mary loves people and is constantly inspired by all of the PFC guests that are striving for positive change.

Tony moved to California in 2016 to accept his dream job at PFC Fitness Camp. He has undertaken an atypical journey to health and fitness, especially for trainers in the fitness industry. In 2010 he accomplished his goal of losing 100 pounds in a calendar year. In the process, he became inspired to take the lessons he learned and encourage others to pursue their fitness goals and dreams.

Tony's training specialities include weight-loss, functional mobility and agility work, Muay Thai Kickboxing, and resistance training. He possesses an advanced degree in Communication, a fitness certification from the American Council on Exercise, and has nearly ten years of teaching experience. His clients have seen incredible results in areas of body recomposition, speed, strength and cardiovascular health.He looks forward to working with you to create the best version of yourself.

Ryan Relyea - Board of Directors
Ryan co-founded PFC Fitness because of his passion for fitness and deep-seated desire to help others achieve a higher quality of life through improved health and mobility. Ryan loves playing virtually every sport and spends time every day in the mountains surrounding his home either biking, trail running or skiing. His responsibilities at PFC include operations oversight as well as business and logistical development. Prior to PFC, Ryan spent his career in private equity investment fund management. He attended Brigham Young University and Boise State University where he received a BBA in Finance.
Zach Cutler - Managing Director
Zach is a strong believer that fitness and nutrition are vital components to a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Growing up, Zach competed in many traditional sports. As an adult, Zach has shifted his passion for pushing himself from traditional sports to cycling, running, skiing and fitness! Hobbies which are physically demanding keep him motivated to eat right and train regularly. Zach loves to share his passion for health and fitness and love to get involved in worthy community service projects. He is currently volunteering to help coach the largest high school mountain bike team in the country in hopes of inspiring the next generation to stay healthy and active! Zach loves PFC because it allows him to work with amazing people form all over the world and help them get back on track in the road of life! Of all of his endeavors, the one that brings him the greatest joy is his family; his wife Jen and 4 daughters, all of which inspire him to be better!
Chris Butt - Board of Directors
Chris’ passion for health and fitness came through playing competitive sports throughout his life. Helping people with weight loss and reaching goals has been a part of his life for the past decade. Chris earned his NGA Pro Card in 2002 as a result of winning the Mountain States All Natural Body Building Competition. Chris graduated with a BS from Weber State University in 1999 and has been assisting his clients in weight loss ever since. He aims to bring balance with proper nutrition and exercise so every life he touches will be changed forever. Chris has an enormous passion for his work and deeply cares about the success of each and every program participant. He dedicates his time and talent so that all guests can see their fitness goals become a reality!
