“WOOO HOOOOO I lost 51 lbs! I did it!!”
After years of struggling with her weight and enduring several health scares, this PFC camper was finally ready for a change. Foregoing the option of gastric bypass surgery, she turned the tables and chose to attend PFC Fitness Camp, where her journey to optimal health would unfold. She has been such an inspiring, enthusiastic and wonderful camper to come through PFC and has made a lasting impact on all of us. Reading her story will leave you feeling uplifted and inspired, just as she has left all of us!
What was life like before PFC?
To be honest, life before PFC was extremely hard because I suffered from several medical conditions that, throughout the years, have progressively become worse. Right before I decided to attend PFC I hit rock bottom. My weight was higher than ever before and I could not even get out of bed without literally lifting my legs one-by-one because I was in excruciating pain. How could I live like this? I would often ask myself. I was not living or being the best me that I could be. Finally, I went to the hospital because I was having episodes of inflammation in my legs and the doctors ended up sending me to get my heart checked because they thought I had congestive heart failure. My doctor told me that I was going to get diabetes. At this point, I went to see a doctor that specialized in weight loss and was told that I was a candidate for the Gastric sleeve surgery. When I presented this to my family my parents were disappointed and upset because a few years ago my uncle passed away from complications due to a bypass surgery. They refused to let me go through that and told me to look for another option, even if I had to take out loans. Bypass surgery was not an option! That is when I discovered PFC Fitness Camp and my weight loss journey began.
What has been the most challenging part of PFC?
The most challenging part of PFC was adjusting to the food. I must say the food was good, but if you live your life consuming food that isn’t good for you then, at first, it will be a bit challenging. Just take it from me, ONE day at a time.
What has been the most rewarding?
The most rewarding thing for me has to be that I feel like I have my life back, I can smile again. I had a lot of great laughs at PFC and it was the best summer I ever had.
I underwent spine surgery 2 years ago, which was the main reason why I gained weight, and I was terrified of doing any activity because I was scared of getting re-injured, but the staff at PFC helped me every step of the way. On days that I was feeling pain they would show me exercises I could do in the pool. The support I got from them was wonderful! (Love you guys so much, you are my family) And then there’s Jessica, the Nutrition Director, who is awesome. The knowledge I acquired from her, I will keep for a lifetime. Trust me, I am definitely one of those people that literally tried every diet known to man, but like Jessica would say, “It is all about being balanced in your life, your body needs all of the vital nutrition components but it’s learning how to consume them”. One MAJOR issue that most people don’t realize is a large contributing factor to weight gain is SUGAR. Bottom line STAY AWAY FROM IT!
With the help of God and the love I received from Premier Fitness Camp, my life has made a drastic change. I look at life with a different perspective now, everyday of my life I want to pay it forward and help others the way PFC has helped me.
What’s your plan after PFC?
My plan after PFC is to help my family and anybody that crosses my path become the best person that they can be. During my time at PFC God sent angels that believed in me, so I will follow their example and encourage and believe in myself and in people.
I would say to the readers to take weight loss ONE DAY AT A TIME. Don’t focus on the scale, focus on how you feel and the inches you have lost. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Believe in Yourself- You Are Stronger than you think.
