Omega 3-6-9 contains a unique blend of stabilized oils from an all-vegetable source. It provides essential fatty acids in their purest forms without the risk of toxicity or mercury found in fish or animal-based products.
Essential Fatty Acids (EFA) is now Omega 3-6-9.
Contrary to popular myth, the body truly needs fat. However, it must be the right kind of fat. Essential Fatty Acids are the basic building blocks of which fats and oils are composed. The fatty acids that are necessary for health and that cannot be made by the body are called ESSENTIAL fatty acids or EFAs. They must be supplied through the diet.
Our three basic categories of essential fatty acids are designated Omega-3, Omega-6 & Omega-9 based upon their chemical structures. Omega-3, including alpha-linolenic and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), are found in fresh deepwater fish, fish oil, and certain cold pressed vegetable oils, canola, flaxseed oil, and walnut oil. Omega-6, which include linoleic and gamma-linoleic acids, are found primarily in raw nuts, seeds, legumes, and unsaturated vegetable oils such as borage oil, grape seed oil, primrose oil, sesame oil, and soybean oil. Omega-9 or Oleic Acid can be found in cold pressed oil such as canola, and safflower. Other sources of Omega-9 are avocados, olives, almonds, cashews and macadamia nuts.
To supply EFAs in supplement form they must not be subjected to heat during the manufacturing process. Heat and light destroy EFAs, resulting in the creation of dangerous free radicals.
EFAs have desirable effects on many disorders. They improve the skin and hair, reduce blood pressure, aid in the prevention of arthritis, lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and reduce the risk of blood clot formation. They are beneficial for candidiasis, cardiovascular disease, eczema, and psoriasis. Found in high concentrations in the brain, EFA’s aid in the transmission of nerve impulses that are needed for normal development and functioning of the brain. A deficiency of EFAs can lead to an impaired ability to learn and/or recall information. Every living cell in the body needs EFAs, for the rebuilding and production of new cells. EFAs are also used by the body for the production of prostaglandins, hormone-like substances which act as chemical messengers and regulators of various body processes.
